Mutt Muffins is your place for your healthy, homemade dog treats containing
the highest quality all natural and organic ingredients. In addition,
wherever possible, we use locally grown foods in our muffins and other treats.
All ingredients we use are human grade, meaning they are the exact foods you
would buy at a health food type store for your other family members.
Our products are made fresh when you order them. All of our products are shipped in a vacuum heat sealed bag, approved by the FDA for food contents. Bags are decorative, in, of course, a dog theme; a perfect for a gift for any dog or dog lover.
We are happy to send gift orders to the address of your choice.
It is our goal to provide great quality canine treats. While doing this, the owners, Julie and Debbie, receive deep personal satisfaction from their efforts of making the canine community happy through their favorite path; their stomachs. Dogs provide the greatest gift to their humans, unconditional love. Where else can you always feel needed, wanted, joy and relaxation? Why not reward the primary source of these wonderful feelings in a healthy way? Dogs know that treats are a sign of affection and reward. We aim to provide dog owners everywhere the ability to "treat" their dogs well.
In our homes, we have several rescue animals, one of whom is a Great Dane who, for lack of a better word, is anorexic. She just doesn't care too much for the whole eating thing, and has to be enticed to eat. We could not find any commercial things to feed her that were acceptable both to us (healthy) and her (tasty). So, we started baking our own!
We used our extensive educations and experiences to both modify existing recipes and develop our own, for the health and nutritional benefit of our dogs. We use the dietary guidelines from the National Academies as a criterion for choosing ingredients, since dogs, likes humans, must obtain certain vitamins and minerals from their diet.
Our treats can supplement any kind of diet you are currently feeding your pet. In addition, we have low-calorie options, so that you don't have to deprive your "big boned" pooch. We also have treats available for pets with special dietary needs.
Although many people are unaware, the majority of store bought pet foods contain low quality ingredients. There are several sites and publications detailing this. More information can be found in our Further Reading section. The short story is that most dog food producers also make "human" food, and the dog food is where they put their "by-products". It is both legal and profitable for these companies to use grains considered "unfit for human consumption", such as moldy grains, and other waste products, which can include intestines, udders, esophagi, and diseased or cancerous animal parts.
